Abstract

Introduction: The 6th Albanian Congress of Trauma and Emergency Surgery (ACTES 2022) was held on November 11–12, 2022, in Tirana, Albania, and served as a premier scientific forum for advancing acute surgical care. Guided by the motto, "Success is caused by education, willpower, concentration, persistence," and asking for high quality, the best standards, the best results…for our patients… The congress demonstrated a strong commitment to improving patient outcomes through academic excellence, collaboration, and clinical innovation. Scope and Participation: The event brought together national and international experts, surgical residents, medical students, and allied health professionals. The ACTES 2022 Abstracts Book features original research, clinical case series, and institutional experiences. The program covered polytrauma management, hemorrhage control, damage-control surgery, trauma system development, and minimally invasive approaches in emergency care. Objectives and Impact: Quality assurance and standardization in trauma management were central themes. The congress prioritized ongoing medical education, hands-on training, and the dissemination of evidence-based practices. Key achievements included launching a regional trauma curriculum, introducing new skill workshops, and engaging over 200 trauma professionals from 12 countries. ACTES 2022 reaffirmed modern trauma care principles and highlighted Albania’s growing global presence. The high scientific quality of the contributions reflects a unified effort to align local surgical capabilities with international standards, promoting equitable, high-quality care for trauma patients worldwide. Conclusion: ACTES 2022 was a pivotal platform for scientific exchange and underscored Albania's role in global trauma care. The high caliber of proceedings demonstrates a commitment to aligning local practices with international standards. The congress showed that education and persistence are advancing trauma and emergency care in the region toward the highest benchmarks.
