Abstract
Introduction: The 30th Albanian Conference of Surgery (ACS) and the 7th Albanian Congress of Trauma and Emergency Surgery (ACTES) were jointly convened in Tirana, Albania, on November 10–11, 2023. As the region's premier assembly for surgical disciplines and emergency care, this year’s event marked a pivotal milestone in advancing medical reform and multidisciplinary integration, driven by the unifying theme "Together we can make the difference."
Methods: The scientific program was structured around 42 plenary sessions held across four parallel halls, designed to address the complexities of a dynamic healthcare landscape. The congress facilitated a robust exchange of knowledge through more than 270 accepted abstracts and a distinguished faculty of 71 international and 180 national experts. This diverse representation underscored the event's role as a critical forum for bridging global best practices with regional clinical needs.
Key thematic areas included acute trauma management, damage control surgery, minimally invasive techniques, oncologic surgery, and innovations in perioperative care. These sessions stimulated rigorous discourse on contemporary challenges, ranging from technological integration to evolving demographic health patterns, thereby fostering a culture of continuous professional development.
Conclusion: The proceedings highlighted the scientific resilience of the Albanian surgical network and its commitment to excellence. Ultimately, the congress underscored the need for international collaboration and evidence-based practice as cornerstones for improving patient care and strengthening surgical infrastructure in Southeast Europe.
